20 Dates With Food in New York – New York Meals Under $25

First off, I would like to apologize for my month long absence – I had a pretty awful injury to my hands and needed some time to recover. I will be writing a post about my experience and what it is like to deal with an NYC renter’s insurance company soon, but for now I wanted to share this lovely post.

20 New York City Dinner Dates

As we know, living in NYC can be very expensive. Yet, despite complaining about rent prices and taxes, people still find it hard to resist going out for food in the city. Whether this is due to the lack of desire to cook a meal, trying to keep up with wealthier friends, or just enjoying a good meal in a great atmosphere, it seems everyone in New York can’t stop themselves from eating out.

Below I have listed restaurants, their food type, the address, and the average cost of a menu item (sides and drinks not included). Here are 20 places where you can get a meal in New York for $25 or less.

Brunch/Lunch in NYC:

Brunch can easily get pretty expensive, especially if you are adding on those mimosas and bloody marys. However, it helps keep your bill reasonable when you choose a place where the entrée/meal is reasonably priced. • Coccette – French – 110 Thompson St, New York – Average cost: $15
  • Dos Caminos – Mexican – Multiple Locations – *BOTTOMLESS OFFER* – Average cost: $17
  • Lexington Brass – American – 517 Lexington Ave, New York – Average cost: $21

  • Sarabeth’s – American – Multiple Locations – Average cost: $23

Dinner in NYC:

I find that most of us 20 and 30-somethings in NYC tend to stay away from going out for restaurants when considering dinner. We tend to stick to the counter services spots and our local bars for bar bites. However, for those of us who enjoy a good dinner out, I’ve compiled a list of dinner spots in New York with an average entrée price of $25 or less. This way you can treat yourself on a night out without overdoing it when it comes to swiping your card. Here are some of my recommendations for an affordable dinner spot in NYC:

  • Westville Dumbo – American – 81 Washington St, Brooklyn – Average cost: $15
  • Roberta’s – Italian – 261 Moore St, Brooklyn – Average cost: $18
  • Seva Indian Cuisine – Indian – 3007 34th St, Astoria – *PRE-FIXED OPTION* – Average cost: $12
  • Sathi – Indian – 216 Third Ave, New York – *PRE-FIXED OPTION* – Average cost: $13
  • Tomoe Sushi – Japanese 172 Thompson St, New York – Average cost: $13
  • El Parador Café – Mexican – 325 E 34th St, New York – Average cost: $19
  • The Malt House – American 9 Maiden Ln, New York– Average cost: $18.50
  • Ramen Lab – Ramen – 70 Kenmare St, New York – Average cost: $18

I hope this list helps you find a moderately priced meal if you are from the NYC area of just visiting. My personal favorite spots are Sathi, Coccette, and Dos Caminos! What are some of you favorite dinner spots? I’d love to hear some more suggestions!
